We love receiving good feedback from the young people we work with. Last month, we received these incredible words from a young person on the Elevate Programme within our Alternative Provision; we were so touched and honoured to hear this, so we wanted to share it with you!
Feedback from the young person:
My mentoring with Louise has helped me in ways I can’t even put into words. It felt like we bonded almost straight away and so have not only been talking about jobs and future goals, but also mental health and grief.
Losing a Dad, at a younger age than expected, is something not a lot of people can understand; so finally finding someone you can freely speak to about it is life-changing in the best ways. As dramatic as it may sound, I can confidently say that Louise has changed my life for the better.
In our mentoring sessions, I’ve managed to figure out what I’d want to do as a career- now and when I’m older. We’ve applied to multiple jobs and I’ve got an interview on Monday 20th with a cafe, which I really love. Louise and I discussed that waitressing/barista work would be a good way to build my confidence and get experience that could help in a wide range of opportunities in the future. This is something I never thought I’d be able to do without her: eventually, I know that I’ll be able to work in all sorts of environments.
Louise helped me with putting my CV together, which I previously found difficult to do by myself. We thoroughly thought through what I’ve done in the past and so for never having had a permanent job before, my CV can prove for a lot (including working with my Dad in his gardening business when he was still alive!).
I’d definitely recommend mentoring with Storyy group to others who are in similar positions as me, because I know the benefit you can get out of it. Having someone hold you accountable for what you do can make the world of difference. I’ve made close friends with another girl who has had mentoring with Storyy group and we both share the same amount of love for it and the people working there.
