HAF Summer of Fun

At Storyy Group, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to feel included, inspired, and supported, no matter their background or personal challenges. That’s why this summer, we are proud to offer not one, but two government-funded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes, designed for young people aged 11–16 who are eligible for Free School Meals.

For some families, the school summer holidays can bring added worry, especially when routines change, social opportunities reduce, and budgets are stretched. Our HAF programmes are designed to tackle these challenges head-on, giving young people the chance to stay active, build confidence, make friends, and develop practical life skills, all while enjoying a healthy meal and snack at every session.

What’s Happening This August?

We’re running two brilliant HAF programmes across two different locations, offering variety and flexibility to meet the needs and interests of young people and their families.

1. HAF at The Climbing Hangar: August 5th to 15th

Where? The Climbing Hangar, Unit 8, Stadium Way, Reading RG30 6BX
When? August 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th
Time? 10am to 2pm each day

This exciting camp includes an introduction to indoor rock climbing, a fantastic way for young people to build strength, resilience, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Whether they’re new to climbing or experienced adventurers, everyone will get the chance to challenge themselves and experience success.

In addition to climbing, young people can also enjoy:

  • Game Zone
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Sports Sessions
  • Orienteering Adventures
  • Dance Sessions
  • Fun Cooking Activities

A tasty, healthy meal and snack will be provided every day to keep energy high and bodies nourished.

2. HAF at Park United Reformed Church: August 19th to 29th

Where? Park United Reformed Church, Palmer Park Avenue, Reading, RG6 1DN
When? August 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th
Time? 10am to 2pm each day

A second chance to enjoy a broad and exciting range of activities in a friendly and inclusive environment. Whether your child loves getting creative, sporty, or simply hanging out with friends, there’s something for everyone.

Activities include:

  • Game Zone
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Sports and Active Play
  • Orienteering Challenges
  • Dance and Movement Workshops
  • Cooking and Healthy Eating Sessions

A healthy meal and snack will also be provided each day.

Why is HAF Important to Storyy Group?

At Storyy Group, we see HAF as more than just a holiday club, it’s an essential part of the support we offer young people to help them thrive, not only during term time but all year round.

For many of the young people we work with, the summer holidays can be a time of boredom, loneliness, and isolation, or even a risk of falling into negative patterns of behaviour. Our HAF programmes help break that cycle by offering safe, supportive, and inspiring environments where they can:

  • Try new things they may never have experienced before, like indoor climbing, dance, or cooking
  • Make friends and build social skills in a relaxed, fun setting
  • Learn real-life independence skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and communication
  • Stay active and healthy with energetic activities and nutritious food
  • Develop confidence and self-worth by setting small goals and achieving success

We also believe in the power of choice, letting young people decide what interests them most each day. This helps to make sure they stay engaged, enthusiastic, and open to learning.

The Storyy Approach: Support That Lasts Beyond the Summer

For us, this isn’t just about filling time, it’s about making memories, building skills, and growing confidence that will carry these young people forward into the new school year and beyond.

Whether they’re reaching new heights on the climbing wall, expressing themselves through art, learning kitchen skills, or simply laughing with friends, every moment counts.

So if your child is eligible for free school meals, we’d love for them to join us this August, either at The Climbing Hangar or at Park United Reformed Church, for what promises to be a summer full of adventure, connection, and fun.

Places are limited, don’t miss out! Get in touch to secure your spot today.
