Supporting Positive Transitions Into Adulthood

More Than Preparing to Move On

For many young people, turning sixteen comes with increasing expectations around independence, responsibility and future planning. While this can be an exciting stage of life, it can also feel overwhelming, particularly for young people who may not have experienced consistent support or stability previously.

At Storyy Group, Our Supported Accommodation (16+) is designed to help young people approach adulthood with confidence rather than uncertainty. We recognise that independence is not something young people should simply be expected to manage overnight, but something that develops gradually through experience, encouragement and the right environment.

Creating Stability During Change

Periods of transition can often bring anxiety and uncertainty, especially when routines, education or living situations are changing at the same time. Our Supported Accommodation (16+) provides a stable environment where young people can continue developing while feeling supported and secure.

Consistency plays a key role in this process. Predictable routines, supportive staff and clear expectations help young people feel more settled, allowing them to focus on building confidence and preparing for what comes next.

For many young people, having that stable foundation is what allows progress to happen.

Encouraging Independence Naturally

Within Our Supported Accommodation (16+), independence is built into everyday life in a way that feels realistic and manageable. Young people are encouraged to take ownership of responsibilities such as managing appointments, preparing meals, organising their routines and developing budgeting skills.

Rather than expecting perfection immediately, our approach focuses on steady progress. Staff provide guidance and encouragement while also giving young people the opportunity to make decisions independently and build confidence through experience.

This balance between support and responsibility helps young people feel capable rather than overwhelmed.

Supporting Aspirations and Future Goals

Preparing for adulthood also means helping young people think positively about their future. Within Our Supported Accommodation (16+), we work closely with young people to explore education, employment and training opportunities that align with their interests and ambitions.

Some may access Alternate Provision to continue rebuilding engagement with education, while others may move towards vocational learning, employment or independent living goals. By supporting these pathways early, young people are able to approach the future with greater direction and motivation.

Building Relationships That Matter

Positive relationships are an important part of successful transitions into adulthood. Many young people benefit from having trusted adults around them who provide consistency, encouragement and honest guidance.

At Storyy, our teams focus on building relationships that help young people feel listened to, supported and respected. Over time, this helps develop confidence, emotional resilience and stronger communication skills, all of which are essential for adulthood and independence.

Helping Young People Move Forward

Our Supported Accommodation (16+) is not simply about providing accommodation during a transition period. It is about creating an environment where young people can continue growing, developing life skills and building confidence in their own future.

By combining structure, encouragement and practical support, we help young people move towards adulthood with greater stability, independence and belief in what they are capable of achieving.
