This September has been full of fresh beginnings, exciting projects, and inspiring achievements across Storyy. With the new academic year well underway, our young people are already making brilliant progress in their learning, wellbeing, and personal development. As we look ahead to October and the half-term break just a few weeks away, we are proud to share some highlights from across our provisions.
Alternative Provision
It has been a wonderful start to the new academic year at Storyy, as we welcomed new students who have enjoyed their inductions and are settling in with confidence. They have been building strong relationships with mentors and engaging in exciting projects that nurture curiosity, creativity, and resilience.
Students have also begun working through their SEMH and Reintegration programmes, identifying areas where they need extra support, exploring life strategies, and building self-esteem and confidence.
At Storyybrook, students set off on a global adventure through the theme Exploring Cultures Around the World. They discovered Greece, China, India, France, and Africa, learning how people live, celebrate, and communicate across different cultures. Alongside this, they have been exploring space and planetary science, building their own solar system and diving into history by learning about the life of a pirate through storytelling, problem-solving, and imaginative play.
Our secondary provisions have also had a busy start. At Finch students explored important PSHE topics such as racism, discrimination, budgeting and future career opportunities. They’ve been working on their CVs, reflecting on their skills and preparing for the next steps. At Birch Hill and Trades, sessions focused on mental and emotional wellbeing, health and fitness, and the importance of British Values in everyday life. Open conversations and activities like Kahoot quizzes have encouraged students to share experiences and test their knowledge in a safe, positive way.
In Maths and English, our tutor Rachel has been supporting students in Functional Skills, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and helping students feel confident in their progress. Feedback has been really encouraging, and Rachel is confident that many will be ready for their first exams later this academic year.
We are proud of the energy and commitment shown across all provisions this month. To celebrate this, we warmly invite you to attend our Open Evenings on Tuesday 14th October, 3.30pm–5.30pm.

Supported Accommodation
Our young people have had a fantastic September, filled with new opportunities and shared experiences. Before college resumed, boys from all of our homes enjoyed a day out at Brooklands Museum to explore the Japanese Car Show and learn about the history of flight at the aviation museum.
Several young people have taken their first big step into college life this month. We’re delighted to see them settle in so well, with many saying it feels less daunting than they first expected. Others continue to thrive in apprenticeships and employment, showing real independence and resilience in their daily lives.
We also welcomed a new young person into one of our homes, who has started to settle in and build connections.
A big well done goes to the two young people who have successfully started college this term, a milestone moment that we’re very proud to celebrate.
