Deputy Provision Manager

Storyy Group provides Alternate Provision, Supported Accommodation (16+), Children’s Homes and Apprenticeships pathways for children and young people.

We have a number of bases across Berkshire including primary and secondary alternate provision sites, creative arts, boxing and construction in addition to children’s homes and supported lodgings.

We work with local authorities, schools, parents and carers to engage children and young people in learning, positive activities and pathways for their future. We give them the support and tools they need to write their own Storyy.

Job Title: Deputy Provision Manager

Salary: TBC (dependent on hours and experience)

Hours: Full time on 39 or 52 week contract

Work Base: Across our Alternative Provision sites located across Berkshire

Start Date: After February Half Term

Key Objectives of the Role:

1. To provide support to the provision manager in the work with individual and groups of children and young people

2. To develop a professional and supportive relationship with children and young people as their mentor and lead professional

3. To ensure the delivery of an effective alternate provision curriculum with clear intent, consistent implementation and measurable impact

4. To deputise as appropriate for the provision manager, managing nominated aspects of the provision within the setting

5. To have an understanding and to comply with, local and organisational procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

1. To provide direct support and guidance to children and young people, in relation to health, care and well-being, with an emphasis upon promoting children & young people’s communication, language, physical, social and emotional development.

2. To model a range of behavioural intervention strategies based on the assessment of a child’s behaviours, this will include the development of Positive Behaviour Support plans and Targets

3. As lead professional and mentor, attend multi agency meetings as appropriate to share information

4. To record appropriately and keep children and young people’s files up to date.

5. To undertake risk assessments and develop risk management plans either independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

6. To support the facilitation of team meetings on a regular basis, to make a commitment to regular supervision, to be responsive to critical challenge, advice, feedback and direction, and to demonstrate a commitment to training and development

7. Ensure appropriate and personalised target setting for all children and young people, with impact reflected in clear reports for parents and schools, which are sent on a regular basis

8. Support the procedures for robust off-site process are in place prioritising the safety of children, young people and staff

9. Effectively monitor the attendance of both staff and children and young people. Ensure first day contact to schools and parents in the event of any student absence and refer attendance concerns as appropriate

10. Support the management of health & safety arrangements across the provision, including first aid arrangements, health and safety checks, risk management plans, risk assessments and any other requirement falling with health and safety legislation

11. To be aware of child safeguarding procedures and ensure that any concerns regarding possible abuse are immediately reported and recorded on CPOMS.

12. Contribute to safeguarding investigations and protection planning as needed under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and undertake all other duties as required in the capacity of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Scope of the Role: To respond to and support the Local Authorities and schools which purchase a service level agreement.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Higher Education Qualification in relevant field (Education, Social Work, Youth Work)
• Leadership Qualification
• Training Qualification

• Excellent communication skills able to meet the requirements and demands of different stakeholders – written, presentational, negotiation and conversational skills

Work-related Personal Requirements
• Highly experienced practitioner with a vast range of experience of working with children and young people with and without learning disabilities who display behaviours that challenge
• Significant experience in supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
• Some experience of managing and supervising staff within a child focused provision
• Understanding of Alternate Provision guidance and requirements as set out by the Department for Education
• Experience of assessing situations and recording to appropriate professional standards
• Experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Self-motivator who is able to demonstrate high levels of self-discipline and initiative
• High standards of professional integrity, whilst being resilient, determined and confident.
• Ambitious, driven and energetic.
• Visible, approachable and accessible.

Other Work Requirements:
The post holder must hold a full UK driving licence (or valid equivalent). Non-UK licences must be converted to UK licences in the first six months of employment. They must also evidence they have business insurance on their vehicle used for work.

A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

The ability to converse easily with members of the public and respond effectively to questions in spoken English
