Bank Support Worker

Key Objectives:

As a Bank Support Worker, your role will involve providing compassionate and person-centered support to young people, helping them to:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed support to young people, promoting independence.
  • Build trusting, positive relationships and encourage ‘positive risk-taking’ within a safe, risk-assessed framework.
  • Assist young people with daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, and accessing benefits and employment opportunities.
  • Empower young people to apply for housing and welfare benefits they are entitled to.
  • Support their mental resilience and assist in managing adverse experiences.
  • Work closely with local authorities and other external professionals to ensure young people achieve their goals.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and ensure the safety of the service.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records for effective care delivery.

A Day in the Life:

Working for Storyy Group means that no two days are the same. You’ll support young people with daily tasks such as cooking, maintaining their rooms, attending health appointments, and applying for benefits. You will help them to learn life skills, assist with CV writing, and support them in job interviews. You will also manage challenging situations, such as substance misuse, barriers to education, and emotional distress.

Our goal is to help young people build positive relationships, thrive in a safe environment, and gain the confidence to move toward independent living.

Meet Matty:

Matty is a 16-year-old in our care, with a background of neglect, abuse, and several foster placements that have broken down. He struggles with aggressive behavior, self-harming, and substance misuse. Your role would be to help Matty feel safe, build trust, and work toward independence.

Person Specification:

We are looking for altruistic individuals who are passionate about making a difference. If you are proactive, compassionate, and resilient, this Bank Support Worker role will be a great fit for you!

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to engage with young people with challenging behaviors
  • Strong teamwork and flexibility
  • Good written and organizational skills
  • Basic IT proficiency (Office 365)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Previous experience working with young people

Additional Requirements:

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • A full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
  • Enhanced DBS check required.

Job Type: contract working on a rota pattern (inc weekends and Bank Holidays) as needed, please note 8-16 hours is not guaranteed it is dependent on cover required.

Pay: £11.75 per hour

Expected Hours: 8 – 16 hours per week. Early shift: 8am to 4pm / Late shift: 12.30pm to 8.30pm. (Both shifts will require you to take 30-minute break as a legal obligation. This may not always be able to be taken off site)/Night Shift 20:30 – 08:30. Lone working will be required.

Work Location: Bracknell and Earley, Berkshire (in person)
