Registered Manager (Full Time)

Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week with flexibility to meet the needs of the business, and on-call duties)
Salary: £65,000

Purpose of the Post

To provide strategic oversight and registered responsibility for a 4 bed, Ofsted registered, children’s residential care home; this home is an EBD home with a therapeutic approach informed by PACE and DDP.

The Registered Manager is accountable for the delivery of outstanding care, regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and leadership of the Deputy Manager, Senior Workers and the Support Workers. They will ensure each home operates in line with national standards, regulations and company values, while continuously developing the team and service.

Regulatory Role: This is a registered position with Ofsted under the Care Standards Act 2000.

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain Ofsted registration and ensure that each home meets and exceeds regulatory and quality standards.
  • Provide direct line management to Deputy Manager and leadership to the wider operational team.
  • Lead on the implementation of quality assurance frameworks, audit cycles, and service improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performance culture with a focus on staff development, child-centred care and positive outcomes.
  • Lead on safeguarding strategy and response across services, ensuring robust systems are in place and embedded.
  • Engage with Ofsted, commissioners and safeguarding boards confidently and professionally.
  • Ensure that all financial, staffing, training, and operational matters are managed effectively across the homes.
  • Lead investigations, chair disciplinary or safeguarding meetings, and implement HR protocols where needed.
  • Analyse service performance using data, feedback and inspection outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping related to your own actions and communications.
  • Handling complaints and compliments.
  • Attending professional meetings.
  • Overseeing staff inductions.

General Responsibilities

  • Champion the organisation’s values and represent the company externally.
  • Deliver monthly performance updates and reports to the Responsible Individual and Executive Director.
  • Oversight of workforce planning, budget management and staff deployment.
  • Chair multi-disciplinary meetings, strategy discussions and regional forums.

Special Conditions

Must hold a Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

Must have prior experience as a Registered Manager with strong outcomes and regulatory history.

This post requires an enhanced DBS and the ongoing maintenance of professional and ethical standards.

In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Senior management in line with escalation processes.

This post requires the holder to have a clear Criminal Records Bureau check at all times, changes to personal circumstances which may effect this must be notified to your line manager immediately.

Essential Desirable
 

Knowledge

Working knowledge of The Children’s Homes Regulations (2015); and the Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the Quality Standards 2015.

Working knowledge of Working together to Safeguard Children (2026).

Working knowledge of the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)

Working knowledge of Dyadic Developmental Practice.

 

 

Experience

Experience of caring for children/ young people in a residential setting in a managerial role.

Experience of supervising team members.

Experience in following safeguarding policies and procedures.

Experience of leading and participating in multi-agency meetings.

Experience as registered with Ofsted

 

 

 

Qualifications

Diploma level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Care. Designated Safeguarding Lead training.

A relevant qualification in social work, social care, psychology or childhood studies.
